Traditional Shinto wedding ceremony?

Please describe a Traditional Shinto wedding ceremony. Do they take pictures of the bride and groom before and after the wedding in a photo studio?

Obviously, photographs are NOT part of the tradition. If the bride and groom choose to have photographs taken, then they do, but it has nothing to do with Shinto. Here’s a good description of a Shinto ceremony.

Is is possible to be in a Shinto wedding even if you aren’t Shinto to begin with?

My boyfriend and I would like to be married in Japan but we don’t really know what our options are. We’d really like a Shinto wedding, but we don’t practice Shintoism. Does anyone know if this can happen?

Contact the American embassy in Japan first and see what it takes to get married there first. Tell them what you wanna do and they’ll tell you how plausible it is. Then from there, they may be able to give you information for planning. Just call and ask, the worst that could happen is that they tell you can’t have that type of wedding there, but maybe here in the US.
Good Luck!
