What would make more money? Being a florist for a wedding? Or making hair accessories?

Posted on September 26th, 2011 by admin

My wife wants to make extra money but she doesn’t know which would make more money. Curious if you have any experience or an opinion.

One question to ask — which of these two products have better demand?

It may hard to come up with research numbers for each of these two products.

But for hair accessories, one way to get a feel for the demand for this product is by going out and looking at how many women actually wear hair accessories. Sit for an hour in a busy mall, and observe what percentage of women you see actually wear hair accessories. What type of hair accessories do they use — e.g. headbands, headwraps, clips? What age group of women actually wear hair accessories more often — e.g. young girls, or women in their 20s or women in their 40s? One thing you’ll notice is that there are so many types of hair accessories and so many variants in terms of style.

As for being a florist for a wedding, how many weddings you’ve been to actually use flowers? I bet almost all weddings use flowers.

One other consideration is how easy will it be to penetrate the market? With handcrafted hair accessories, she can sell them online through ebay or etsy.com. With a wedding florist business, there are more barriers to entry — how to get your service known to those getting married, including their wedding planners.

It all depends on what your wife wants, what she enjoys doing. Afterall, when starting a business, she has to bear in mind that this is what she’ll be doing again and again everyday – so having the passion for what she is doing can help her persevere in the business.

Where did you get your wedding accessories?

Such things in local stores are too expensive! How much will you plan for such things? The things will be used only once and I am on a budget, please give some advice~~~

I’m still in the planning stages but in order to keep expenses down (this is my second wedding and it will be small), we are doing most of the decorating ourselves.

We are getting favors, a card box, some flowers, a lighted arch, vases, candles, bubbles (no rice), sparklers and our invitation kit from Michael’s Crafts. The estimated cost for the decor is $300.

My personal accessories like my tiara, wedding bag, crinoline petticoat, ballet slippers and bustier all came from eBay. The total cost for all of that was less than $75. We also got plenty of extra ink for our printer from eBay since we are doing our invitations ourselves. The price for that was $80 for 4 cartridges (2 black and 2 color).

We aren’t ordering the goofy things like coasters, matchbooks and stuff like that. We are going to make CDs of our favorite songs and have those for souvenirs and also use the photos we get from everyone’s cameras to make a photo CD slide show using Photoshop for effects. We have piles of CD-ROMs already so we don’t have to worry about that.

I suggest you look on eBay. There is so much stuff on there for great prices.

anyone have a good suggestion for display case to hold my wedding accessories?

a shadow box coffee table, that way you can keep all your stuff together, but, you can also put a table cloth on for occasions. this can be done with most coffee tables.

Im thinking opening a business which hires Prom dresses, wedding dresses and accessories what do you think?

Posted on July 11th, 2011 by admin

ill buy dresses such as prom/evening dresses, wedding dresses and accessories such as tiaras etc.
i brought my dress from a similar business as i couldnt afford to buy one. i think its perfect for someone who is workign with a budget or doesnt want the dress after the night. All products will be cleaned after every customer. Would you hire a dress from a business like this?

yes, i would!

edited to add: if you specialized in plus sizes, large women in your city would be at your feet in gratitude. it’s very dfficult to find plus sized anything.

What color nailpolish should I wear with a purple dress and black accessories to a wedding?

Posted on May 4th, 2011 by admin

Wondering if black nail polish is appropriate to wear to a wedding or if you have any other suggestions that would look good. I’m wearing black shoes and jewelry.

I think that black nail polish would e fine as long as you don’t like look goth or anything. But if you don’t want to wear black you could get like those white tips on your nails that would match anything and would still look nice.

Where to buy Chinese wedding accessories online?

Posted on April 24th, 2011 by admin

I am looking to buy traditional Chinese wedding accessories (kneeling cushion, tea set, decorations, bedding, etc.) but there aren’t many locally. Does anyone know of reliable online shops that offer these items? Neither shipping nor time is not an issue at the moment.

I’m not sure if this is what you’re after but have a look at http://www.budgetdeals.org . My daughter bought a lace wedding dress for just over $100 delivered free. Not sure if there are decorations etc there.
