I am very creative and want to put together everything that requires a floral arragement. I have looked at a couple websites, but none had pictures or videos to go with the directions they offered. Books or Videos would also be great for ideas.
You should try youtube. They have lots of videos that can teach you how to do all of those things:

Hopefully they will have some clear directions!
You could also try save-on-crafts.com – they have lots of DIY projects.
Good luck!
I am doing my own bouquets and centerpieces for the wedding. I did some trial the other night using flowers bought from the grocery store, and they turned out great; however, my wedding is not until July 4th, and I would like to ensure I can get the inexpensive flowers I need ON THE DATE I need them. I would prefer not to buy from a professional florist when I can spend half the money buying them at the grocery store! Does anybody know any good online retailers that will send undecorated flowers to your home? Or does anybody have any OTHER tips that could be useful? Thank you.
We went the bulk flower route. It went GREAT!
I’m in Michigan and went through a company called Horrocks. They are a produce store. They even made it so the roses were "left out" and in full bloom. Your grocery store could probably work with a wholesaler and get them delivered. They did make the bouquets. On site delivery was $12 and we spent $700 out the door, this included everything……centerpieces, bouquets, coursages etc. You can email me privately for pix.
I would go locally rather than online. I’ve had some really bad experiences with some online retailers.
My wedding colors are dark purple and lime green and I really enjoy the look of tropical flowers. I want bold and beautiful flowers! I want to stay rather inexpensive as I can though.
I’ve worked with silk flowers for several years and I would caution you on ordering online. Unless you know the product and quality of the product you are ordering, it’s very difficult to know exactly what you are getting until it’s to late.
So instead I would suggest to start scouting craft stores and looking for flowers that you like, pay attention to the manufacturer of the flowers then you can look for that product online.
Although I very rarely order flowers online. I find all my flowers at Michael’s, Garden Ridge and Hobby Lobby, but any local craft store in your area should have some silk flowers.
Next with your colors, look for different shades and variations of purple and accents like pale blue, cream etc. Then you can really bring all your colors together with the decorative ribbons in your exact colors.
For the lime green I would look for small sprays of baby’s breath or a similar small flower that has leaves and stalks that will bring that lime color into your arrangements.
Good luck!
I would like to start selling my handmade silk wedding bouquets and was wondering…If you were looking for silk bouquets fo your wedding, where are some of places you would look, online and other.
Get some business cards (vistaprint.com is an EXCELLENT place)
Then distribute them to bridal shops, bakeries, photographers. You might want to make up a few examples to put on display in these places so people can see your work.
A website is never a bad idea. But make it professional; don’t go the ‘cheap’ route. Yahoo’s Sitebuilder is great. Homestead is another good one.
Good luck!
I’m either going to order roses online and make the bouquets myself or go to Sam’s Club the day before and get a bunch of fall flowers and make my own bouquets. Anyone have any opinion on which one is the safer bet?
I know it’s not super classy (like spending tons of money on a florist) but I’m strapped for cash after buying everything else and saving to buy a house.
Nothing says class like Sams club. Its like costco but walmart style. Yaaaaaaa!!!!!
lavender rose is a great idea! rosemary is another good one, as are chamomile and jasmine. you could also try lemon verbain– smells just like lemon drops!
Tell me if it really works too.
The least expensive way is to hang the bouquet upside down in a dark place and let it dry naturally. Then, spray it with an acrylic spray made for dried flowers to keep the petals form falling off. You can also purchase silica gel to use for drying. Place the bouquet carefully in a box with silica gel under the bouquet. Then, carefully pour more silica gel in, taking care to get it in between the petals and around each flower. Cover completely. Clean sand can also be used in place of the silica gel. When dry, spray with the preservative spray.
I would really like the colors for my wedding to be blue and brown but I am having trouble with the flowers. Blue flowers are few and far between, so I need another color that would fit with those for my bridesmaids bouquets and the groomsmen boutonnieres and centerpieces. I will be having a white bouquet. Any suggestions? Thanks! ![]()
What color are your bridesmaid dresses? If they are brown, navy blue, or turquoise, I would suggest bright pink, bright orange, or light orange. If they are a baby blue, I would suggest bright orange.
You could always have your bridesmaids carry white flowers, and then you carry bright pink flowers. That would look great, I think!
I’m trying to budget my wedding so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
I forgot to add centerpieces too!
I haven’t had my wedding yet, but here is the estimate I got from my florist:
1 bridal bouquet
5 bridesmaids’ bouquets
1 groom boutonnieres
7 groomsmen/other boutonnieres
2 corsages
10 center pieces
Grand total will be around $750.
Flowers included in the quote are ranunculus, chocolate cosmos, hypericum berries, red Asiatic lilies, pincushion protea, roses, spray mums, wheat, standard sunflowers, and mini red/orange sunflowers.
