I’m a wedding florist, and i have a question regarding marketing?

Posted on September 9th, 2011 by admin

bridal magazines charge at least $1000 for a small ad. does it worth it? will i get more clients? how would you pick your wedding florist?

A multi pronged approach is often best. So if you only have $1000 dollars for all of your marketing look at doing a number of activities. Putting all of your eggs in one basket is high risk. A good solid web strategy as mentioned in one of the other answers pays dividends. Other avenues are wedding fairs and joint ventures with Bridal Retailers, also venues such as hotels can bring you business you may need to give them a commission but this is only on the business you gain. These can be very cost effective ways of getting recommendation.

If you do run an advert offer an incentive for the brides say they get something like a free set of earrings when they attend a wedding flower consultation with you. You can get more information and ready done materials at www.redvelvetropeclub.com or worldwidefloristmarketing.co.uk

How do I go about booking a florist for my wedding?

Posted on June 3rd, 2011 by admin

Do I have to make appointments for conciltations just to get their prices? It just seems so time consuming. If I make an appointment for a conciltation is it rude not to book with them then and there?

You can interview florists over the phone and by email. But you should meet with the one you choose at least once before signing a contract. My wedding was 5 hours from where I live so I didn’t have the luxury of being able to visit several florists last year, but I searched on weddingwire.com and read reviews and emailed a few of them to see if their quote would fall into my price range. The one that had the best price and samples on her website got a meeting, where I saw more samples and ideas and signed with her and paid a deposit.

How much do you tip to wedding services, such as Florist, photographer, caterer, and videographer.?

Posted on March 17th, 2011 by admin

To be honest. We did not tip the Florist. We didn’t tip the photographer or videograhper either. The other people we did tip was the caterer.. approx $300 I recall and the Limo Driver, we gave her $100 cause she was awesome. We paid all those services ALOT of money for their service and we felt they didn’t need a tip for the thousands of dollars we had already spent!

Though you can take a look at this website if you’d like:

What can I do if I’ve been scammed by my wedding florist?

Posted on March 16th, 2011 by admin

I booked a florist for my upcoming wedding and paid in full by check (she offered a discount). The florist has now vanished. Phone numbers are disconnected, nobody is at her shop. She cannot be reached. I have a contract that I signed and email confirmation that she received it. I also have proof that she cashed my check. Is there anything I can do legally? I don’t know who to report it to or what I can do to get my money back. I also have a list of 10 other girls that are in my same boat (we all belong to a local wedding message board). She has taken over $12,000 between us. We need help! Thank you!!

Go down to your local Municipal Courthouse and look up the deed to the property (her shop) to find who owns the building. Either it will be her, or her landlord. Either way, that should give you all the information you’ll need to identify and locate this woman.

After you’ve done that, you and the 10 other woman need to band together and sue the pants off this b*tch. You typically cannot sue for more than $5,000 in damages in small claims, so each one of you should file your case separately and each sue her for the maximum allowed. The cases will most likely all be heard on the same day and with that many people and with your email confirmation of the cashed check, you’ve got a slam dunk case.

And of course, the ten of you need to go to the police———the amount of money she’s taken classifies her crime as a major felony. If they do nothing, the ten of you need to go above their heads and contact your local DA directly to demand that charges be filed.

Wedding florist – HELP?

Posted on March 12th, 2011 by admin

I hired a highly-recommended (and hugely expensive) florist for my wedding which was a week and a half ago. I met with them twice, we had a contract with the specifics of the flowers detailed in it, and I was confident that the flowers would be wonderful. However, when they showed up on the day of the wedding they were not at all what I had wanted, and included flowers I had specifically said I did not want. Basically they completely screwed up the flowers and even though none of the guests would know, it really put a damper on the wedding day and how I felt about it.

What should I do to address the problem? While my husband and I were away my mom talked with them and said she wasn’t going to pay them anymore (we already paid them at 50% deposit), but the charged her credit card for almost the full amount. Should I write a letter, call them, or go in to meet with them? I am very mad!

I would give them a call and tell them you were very disappointed the day of your wedding. I know that i would have been upset if the flowers hadn’t come out the way that i wanted.
Do you have a copy of your contract? Does it have everything written out…like the exact flowers that you wanted, etc? It sounds like you were completely clear with them what you did and did not want, but some people give florists a vague idea and then are disappointed when they don’t come out the way that they want.
I would at least get on the phone with them. If they want you to recommend them to anyone in the future they should be more than happy to make things right for you. A wedding is an important event, and I am sure that they know this…
I’m sorry to hear that your flowers didn’t come out like you wanted them to. I hope that the rest of the day was beautiful though. Congrats on your marriage! :)

How much to budget for Photographer, Florist, and DJ? Wedding is in the bay area and around 75 guests?

Posted on March 11th, 2011 by admin

Also, how much to pay for cake? Any recommendations for any of the above vendors? Thanks.

You’re most likely going to spend the most on the flowers and the photographer. The photographer is not something you want to skimp on. You will have those pictures for the rest of your life you don’t want to be disapointed when you get them back and they are nothing like what you had invisioned. Photographers also usually charge by the package and by the hour. So it really depends on how many hours you need them for. Expect to average around $1000 or more for a great photographer. That is not counting the wedding album either.

Flowers are expensive because you use them for the bridal party, decorations, cake, and centerpieces. If you decide to use candles as the centerpieces, none on the cake, and to decorate with glass beads or fake crystals you will cute your costs DRASTICALLY! I budgeted only $750 for flowers. I had no idea I guess because with me, the groom, family, and our bridal party, decorations, centerpieces (half are being done in candles still) and the cake I am going to pay over $2500 just on the flowers! Crazy right? My centerpieces were $100 a piece alone just for the flower part and it would have been more if my mom hadn’t talked the lady into renting us the vases for free as long as we got the flowers from her. It’s seriously crazy how much you spend.

The DJ is the easiest part. They are usually very reasonable. My DJ is a long time friend so I got a discount (thank god lol) but they can range in price from about $600 to $800. A live band would of course cost way more of course but for DJ’s you can usually find a really great one for a reasonable price.

Good luck and Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
