How fancy do wedding invitations need to be?

Posted on December 17th, 2011 by admin

If you send invitations that aren’t very fancy, will people still take your wedding seriously and give you the same value wedding gift? A friend said that she wouldn’t, and I was shocked.

Wedding invites usually go with the type of wedding you’re having, and your budget. If you are having a backyard barbecue wedding, a single card invite will do. If you are having a lavish formal wedding your invites will reflect it. The value of the wedding gift has nothing to do with the type of invite.

What is the best printer for cardstock wedding invitations?

Posted on November 19th, 2011 by admin

Printing my own wedding invitations and need to get a good printer. Any suggestions?

I got great results from an epson workforce 500. you have to make sure the printer has a nearly straight through paper path. The artisan series is great but the paper feeds through the front and out through the front, making a U turn inside the printer. Cardstock does not take a U turn well. Most of the workforce series loads through the top and out the front making a 45 degree turn, so they can handle card stock.
The reason I like epson is because 1) they have the best warranty around. For a year epson will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one at their expense and 2) you can get ink for under 50 cents a cartridge at www.ccs-digital.com You pay under 2.50 for their reusable cartridges and get $2 back for the empties. Or you can use reusable cartridges and refill them yourself for pennies.

Can I send wedding invitations without the inner envelope?

Posted on July 8th, 2011 by admin

I already hate that I have to use paper to send invitations, but now I read that "formal invitations are always slipped into an unsealed inner envelope’.

So, my questions is: Would it be inappropriate if I didn’t have an inner envelope for my wedding invitations and if I just mailed them with one envelope?

Thanks for your help!

I think it would only matter depending on the formality of your wedding. If its really formal then yes. If no there are other options like having guests simply call or send an email to a specific email account could work too. However if you expect mailed rsvps then they need the envelope to mail it back to you.

Do my wedding invitations have to be the exact same colors of my wedding scheme?

Posted on June 29th, 2011 by admin

My wedding colors are black, white and dark red. The invitations that I bought are ivory with black. I loved them and had to have them. Do you think it will be ok that they aren’t exactly as my wedding color scheme?

It’s your wedding and you can do exactly what you want. Personally I doubt that anyone will notice or care.

Where can I make copies of my wedding invitations?

Posted on June 16th, 2011 by admin

So I ordered my wedding invitations from a website and had them custom printed with everything on it. And now its coming down to time to send them out and I just realized I need more. I can order them again straight from the website and actually did that a second time but it’s really expensive and I was wondering if anyone knew if I would be able to take them to officedepot or staples or somewhere like that and they could make copies for me??

Any advice is appreciated or if u have any other ideas….
Thanks in advance!

You can try office supply stores like Staples, Office Max, Kinkos, etc or specialize print shops. Of those usually the office supply stores are cheaper.

Or, you can rather than copy them make a second set of invites from your own printer too.

Does it matter when wedding shower invitations go out?

Posted on May 21st, 2011 by admin

My grandpa’s girlfriend is throwing us a shower. She is saying she wants the names and addresses of all those invited, emailed to her now. But our wedding isn’t until October, and we haven’t even gotten or sent out the invitations to the actual wedding yet. I have read that generally, shower invitations go out after wedding invitations have been sent. What’s correct? Is there some sort of etiquette?

The bridal shower invites should be sent out no later than 4 weeks before the event. Shower can be weeks or even months before the wedding.

We are getting married in August
Save the Dates were sent in January
Bridal Shower is in June – invites were already sent
We have not yet sent out formal wedding invites.

How do print my own wedding invitations?

Posted on May 14th, 2011 by admin

I decided for my wedding that I want to print my own invitations and I need help. Also, I want to mention that I did buy some invites at Michael’s. Can someone help with suggesting a good printing software.

The only software that you really need is either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher. Many of our customers save money by buying blank postcards in bulk, but since you already have your invitations, I recommend using our Find Your Paper tool to make sure that the invitation paper will work in your printer ( since invitations tend to be printed on heavier paper than typical copy paper ): http://pcforms.com/printer_specs.php?osCsid=1ae078393f48080797ac21222be4e5fe

If your invitations are within the dimensions of a typical postcard, you can check out some of our blank templates:

Double ( folded ) Postcard/Invitation for Microsoft Word: http://pcforms.com/burris-blank-double-postcard-template-microsoft-word-p-417.html
Double ( folded ) Postcard/Invitation for Microsoft Publisher: http://pcforms.com/burris-blank-double-postcard-template-microsoft-publisher-p-419.html

Jumbo Single Postcard/Invitation for Microsoft Word: http://pcforms.com/burris-blank-jumbo-single-template-microsoft-word-p-601.html
Jumbo Single Postcard/Invitation for Microsoft Publisher: http://pcforms.com/burris-postcard-template-microsoft-publisher-p-285.html

These are designed for our products, so make sure you check the dimensions of your invitations versus our templates.

Also, we recommend using Publisher, if available. When using Word you will need to turn on the guides and copy and paste for multiples on one page.

Here’s a short information page we have on invitation cards: http://pcforms.com/party-invitation-cards-i-34.html

Then also, if you don’t want to hand write or hand type all of the addresses onto each invitation as you create them, you can do a mail merge onto labels to print onto labels so you can just peel and place the addresses onto each invitation.

We have a quick blog on this in case you need some tips on mail merging: http://info.pcforms.com/DIY-Printing-blog/bid/26649/How-do-I-mail-merge-labels-from-xlxs-to-Word-or-Publisher

Also, you’ll see on the right that we have a short form where you can submit your own questions that might appear in the blog.

Good luck with your invitations!
