When to send out wedding invitations and bridal shower invitations?
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 by admin
My wedding is May 30th and my bridal shower is April 18th (no, I’m not throwing myself one). I was planning on sending the wedding invitations in early March, so when should the shower invitations be sent?
I am NOT sending out my own shower invitations. The person throwing my shower is, but wanted to know whether or not they should be sent before or after the wedding invitations.
if u can stand the pressure, send them the morning u get married.

Wedding invitations should go out two months before wedding. Shower invitations usually go out between 4-6 weeks before the shower. Hope that helps.

You can get away with sending wedding invitations a few weeks later if you sent out save the date cards, but typically 8 weeks. 4-6 weeks for the shower invitations.

4 weeks in advance, as this allows for a week for snail mail delivery and three weeks to get ready.

You shouldn’t be sending out the shower invitations at all. That job is the responsibility of the person who is hosting the shower for you. But if they asked for your input, tell them that the shower invitations should go out no later than 2 weeks before the shower date, so like the last weekend in March or so.

I’d send the shower invites in Late Feb, Early march at the latest and the wedding invites around the same time, a bit after probably.

Bridal Shower – March 18th
Wedding – Normally I would say 6 to 8 weeks for a wedding but since yours is around Memorial Day and most people already have plans I would do it early around March 1st or so.

Send out your bridal shower invitations in the beginning of March (with an RSVP date for early April), and your wedding invitations at the very end of March. Wedding invitations really don’t need to be sent out more than two months in advance, because if you send them out too early you run the risk of people forgetting altogether or losing the invitations and RSVP cards. For your bridal shower, I would say send your invites out a little more than a month in advance, and then give them up to 2 weeks before the shower to RSVP (maybe 3 if it is at a hall or country club, and not someone’s house).
Just to give you an idea of timing, my wedding is April 17th (the day before your bridal shower. Yay! =) and my shower is February 28th. My friends will be sending out the shower invites right after New Year’s, probably around January 10th or so, for an RSVP date of February 10th. As far as wedding invitations, we are planning on sending them out around the second week of February, for an RSVP date of March 15th.
Hope it helps, and congrats on your wedding! =)

Send the invitations about 4-6 weeks before each event. If you’re having out of town guests, send them about 6-8 weeks in advance.
